UMAMI COFFE CAMP – VIETNAM special edition 08 -18 Novembre 2016 – Dalat

Discovering Specialty Coffee Made in Vietnam

Some years ago, in the Central Highlands of Vietnam, on Lang Biang plateau, courageous small coffee producers have begun the Specialty revolution. The producers are mostly part of ethnic minorities, such as K'Ho people. Ethnic groups and communities, thanks to the Specialty Coffee production are coming out of poverty, from the clutches of loan sharks and all the difficulties that follow.
Right here, the Umami Coffee Camp - Vietnam Special Edition will take place. A Coffee Camp aimed at discovering the Specialty Coffee world in Vietnam, offering high-quality trainings and helping the small local producers. Lang Biang Coffee Village is an informal cooperative of producers, who struggle day by day in the compromise to produce a top quality coffee. This cooperative will support and help the participants to get to know the unknown Vietnamese world, with fieldwork, workshops in plantation and cultural moments. A world that, however, has already seen the birth of successful and innovative realities, such as La Viet Coffee Shop, a high quality, innovative and professional specialty café that will support technically the Camp; K'Ho Coffee, a social cooperative composed of dozens of K’Ho families, native to the forests of the Vietnamese Central Highlands and Philantrope, a non-profit charity currently working directly with indigenous tribal coffee farmers.
Also in Vietnam, Umami Area, in its commitment to high quality formation, will offer courses based on the modules of the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) Coffee Diploma System. The focus of the Camp will be on Green and Sensory modules, with a participation of coffee lovers and experts from Europe and Vietnam.
